Piano lessons start at age 5 through adult. Training in classical technique, theory, ear training, and performance skills.

Oboe/English Horn

Typically, lessons begin at the 6th grade level. Grade 6 through adult students welcome. Reed adjustments included with each lesson. Advanced students may pursue English Horn.

Joy is experienced in a wide variety of settings including, musical theater, church services, chamber music, orchestras, and as a soloist. She is available on both oboe and English Horn.

ABOUT JOY

 

Joy is a music educator and performer who plays oboe, English Horn, and piano,   She earned her High School diploma from the world renowned Interlochen Arts Academy, received her Bachelor's in music from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, and completed a Master's in Education at Xavier University.  She has over 15 years of  teaching experience. Joy has been privileged to study oboe with Daniel Stolper (Interlochen Arts Academy),  Sarah Lambert Bloom (Univ. of Cincinnati), Cally Banham (St. Louis Symphony) and Xiomara Mass (St. Louis Symphony).

 

 

Joy regularly performs in the St. Louis area as a soloist and orchestral musician. She teaches music at the Principia school and maintains an active home studio.  Other posts have included oboe/piano teacher at DaySpring School for the Arts, choir accompanist and oboe/flute soloist at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, music enrichment teacher at Chesterfield Day School, and oboe teacher for Mehlville School District Band programs. In addition, Joy plays oboe/English Horn with the St. Louis Civic Orchestra. 

 

Joy is passionate about helping students develop effective practice habits that improve technique and enhance critical thinking skills.  She is eager to share her love for music with students of all ages and abilities, including those with special needs.
